About Caryn Sandoval

Caryn Sandoval is a California based artist, photographer, filmmaker, and copywriter. Raised in Ventura County, her childhood studies included classical piano, songwriting, theater, film, and physics. She began studying astrophysics at University of California Santa Cruz and, upon realizing she was an artist and communicator at heart, switched majors to Film & Digital Media and pursued a wide career in web content, copywriting, video, and photography.

The work she creates is fundamentally inspired by her curiosity and interest in pursuing scientific knowledge, coupled with an appreciation for the unseen. She uses visual art as a means to emotionally represent the abstract world that thrives beneath what we are able to see. She’s fascinated by ideas of size and distance, pareidolia, particles, magnetic fields, and how these things manifest in the human condition.

She lives in San Diego with her husband, filmmaker and photography Brendan Cleak. She’s an avid runner, musician, and daydreamer.
