About Caryn Sandoval

Caryn Sandoval is a California based artist, photographer, filmmaker, and copywriter. Raised in Ventura County, her studies included classical piano, songwriting, theater, film, and physics. She began studying astrophysics at University of California Santa Cruz and, realizing she was an artist and communicator at heart, switched majors to Film & Digital Media and pursued a wide career in creativity and communication.

The work she creates is fundamentally inspired by her curiosity and interest in pursuing knowledge and the unknown, with an appreciation for the underlying beauty in all things. She is obsessed with maps, finding things, discovering new thoughts, exploring trails, and connecting with others. She’s fascinated by ideas of size and distance, pareidolia, fields, potential energy, and how these things manifest in the human condition.

She lives in San Diego with her husband, filmmaker and photography Brendan Cleak. She’s an avid runner and daydreamer.
